felt heavy

it had a good slow feel to it, but something in the beginning made me cringe... i think it was the brass that started with the strings at the same time. They clashed. Didn't go together. Careful with that. The strings would be ok if they didn't have such heaviness to them... like a running elephant. Otherwise it was good... the drums sounded good too.

preview review

lol, you don't get full score til you are done...

The drum samples sound fine you just need to raise the volume a bit on the snare because its a little TOO quiet. Otherwise it sounds fine. Good try with the wind in the backgroundbut in order to make it more convincing you need to make it move around more. Make the cutoff move around a bit... other then that it's sounding good so far.

Finish it up and I'll give you a full review... L8R

Amazingness

Sytrus is an amasing synth if you just take the time to learn it... most people will look at it and go "...too complicated" when it isn't really. All it takes is a little patience and some imagination. Just about every effect you could want is packed into sytrus. Reverb, Cutoff, Delay, Arping, just about anything. It also helps to learn it if you jsut look at the help section for sytrus. It even supports it's own oversampling (for those who know what that does). Unison is another thing inside sytrus that can help to produce some extraordinary sounds.

So yeah you're right. Some of those presets only scratch the possibilities of Sytrus.

I am glad I heard this and happy you took the time to sit down and learn it because you time produced amazing results.

Confusion

It's an odd combination of random chaos... the mind is trying to sort out all of the days events frantically in just 3-8 hours and this is what it produces while doing so. Dreaming is a euphoric state in which we use R.E.M. (Random eye movement) to "see" into our dreams... The outcome of the day total is consolidated in to one flowing movie. Some "see" into the future (deja vu) and when you hit that point in you life, feel like you've been here or talked to this person before. The mind is a complex muscle that we can barely even scratch the of knowing about. So much mystery. So much depth. So many things going on at once it's barely even comprehendable. This song signifies that.

Full of Irish-ness :D

ya see, I've always likes Irish type music and at the same time always wondered why... so I asked my mom a month ago and, to my great pleasure, found out that I'm part Irish... YAY!

Excellent song. It had a great flow and was very festive. Kept me stuck to the speakers. The acoustic and nylon guitar sounded good together. The bass hits fit in nicely also. I gave it an extra... kick :p (yes I know that was bad)

ok... ok

This is great... well for what I'm thinking of...

okay... this is a great beginning of an actual song... the cymbal placement is kinda off though you should have it hit on the down beats after the silences... after the 55th second so many possibilities rushed into my head.
Go under Plugin presets>generators>Sytrus and mess with the synth strings and short synths and arps. Also Packs>dance and look at some of the stuff there.

Just think--- no wait dont think... thinking isnt for musicians! You have to feel what should come next! You left the ending just hanging there now you HAVE to do something with it. If you need any help with FL, PM me and ill be happy answer any questions.

Excellentness

So worth listening to. A song that is the essance of a gamer. The song is great and the lyrics are true to the max, lol. The ending made me laugh because it caught me by surprise.

I'm 17 and I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. I even have an Atari, lol. I just downloaded emulators for SNES and N64 so i can dawnload and play all of the games i couldn't aquire due to rarity or lack of money. :)

Easily one of my favorite songs.

SkyMarshall responds:

You sir, are a true gamer. I had an Atari too. Or Atari's actually. Well who am I kidding. I've had every gaming-system since the Commodore 64, no shame in that :) Emulating is fun for nostalgic purposes I guess. If you havent tried it for the 64 - Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, GoldenEye 007 and Ocarina of Time is a must. And thanks for the 10 and the review and everything. Makes me enjoy what I do :)

relaxing...

I picked this song randomly out of the portal and this popped up... I'm glad it did.
It had a GREAT feel to it. Smooth with a slight edge to it... just enough to make you go "Ahhhhhhhh yeahhhh" and sink into a chair :)

I could SO play my sax to this

so, i might need a sax on some projects

weird combination

Its a odd combination of sad and suspenseful music. I liked how i switched from one mood to another throughout the song... great for a movie. The percussion parts fit in nicely and the jungle style drums gave me goosebumps (great touch). The piano was genius. The chords were simple but at the same time just right. The build-up that started from 2:48 to the end was excellent and the ending was good... but i wish it was less of a "BAM IT'S OVER" kind of ending it should settled into it a bit more. To me that's the hardest part of a song: a good ending.

10/10... I was gonna give 9/10 but I've composed a piece and know how hard it is, so you have bonus points :)

One question: what was the tempo? I felt like 140-ish... hard to tell.

Thanks for the review.

good, but you've done better...

I've heard you do better songs... no offence to you personally. :S This one kinda lacked a bit of imagination. Its sounded good and all, but it would have sounded better if you put a bit more contrast into it. Most of the time it was in your face and upbeat... dont get me wrong thats not a bad thing but somewhere in the song you need to tone it down a bit... bring in some soft strings and make it feel like you are flying. the only times i heard that was in the short blurbs in the beginning and end.
The song was great, but it didnt move me if ya know what ahm sayin.

do some experimenting... looking forward to your next song!
