weird combination

Its a odd combination of sad and suspenseful music. I liked how i switched from one mood to another throughout the song... great for a movie. The percussion parts fit in nicely and the jungle style drums gave me goosebumps (great touch). The piano was genius. The chords were simple but at the same time just right. The build-up that started from 2:48 to the end was excellent and the ending was good... but i wish it was less of a "BAM IT'S OVER" kind of ending it should settled into it a bit more. To me that's the hardest part of a song: a good ending.

10/10... I was gonna give 9/10 but I've composed a piece and know how hard it is, so you have bonus points :)

One question: what was the tempo? I felt like 140-ish... hard to tell.

haha, thanks.

I'll have a go at that.

my story...

when the right story is applied to this song...... it sends a wave of great sorrow over you. Imagine not past, but present throughout the whole thing. Imagine a single boy standing atop a distant hill watching as a great blaze rips through his hometown and all he can sit there and watch being the only one that escaped. At the first cymbal crash have him fade into the background, transparent, and scenes of the townspeople going by as they endure though this catastrophy. Expressions of the people of pain, shock, and utter terror fade in and out as he watches. When the piano comes back in while the violin is holding that note in the background, he slowly looks up and ,as immense sorrow washes over him, he runs with all his might, tears streaming down his face, back towards his home. Thoughts of all of his family, friends, neighbors vanishing right in front of him. He reaches the entrance to his town and finds everything falling apart and in ashes. Racing through town, the boy calls out for his mom, for anyone... He comes to his street and stops dead.... his home... all that he grew up with... lay in ashes.... lifeless. Walking to his would be room, he stumbles upon a large pile of smoldering ashes... trying to uncover what lies beneath, he hits something soft and rolls it overand to his horror it was his father, huddled over his wife and her newborn girl. Dropping to heis knees, trying desprately to wake him up, he hears a small whine with some movement.... the baby girl starts crying. Pickign her up, he takes one last sorrowful look at his parents and his home, then slowly walks out of town with his sister in his arms...

this is what i picture...

Wow... someone needs to make a flash for that... Like right now...

Great story. It reminds me of an anime I saw awhile ago called "Grave of the Fireflies" It's easily one of the most depressing shows I've ever seen. That and "Now and Then, Here and There"

Check them out!

In awe...

This is one of my most favorite songs and you did an EXCELLENT job in re-creating it. The beginning with the piano sounded original (was it?) The mix between the drumz and the orcestrated parts were flawless (to me)... now what really amazed me was th transition from the piano in the beginning to the synth... It just had this ring to it that gave me goosebumps, inna good way, and when the trombone came in it fit in perfect. The only problem I had with this song was the ending... it sorta just trailed off and left me going "awwww..."

Summary: If I had four thumbs they would all be up!

PERVOK responds:

Like I said in the comments... this project has been sitting around for far too long :O Sorry about the crap-tastic ending, but in all reality, I just wanted to get it done.

Glad you enjoyed it!

blows mine away :(

I have a remix of Memories siting on my computer but its too crappy and I would be embarassed to submit it. But this was and still is a masterpiece. all of instruments fit together perfectly. The harpsichord you had going in the middle was a perfect choice for the part....

T_T while listening

I'm happy you liked this one. Thanks for the review.

the not so grey "Grey"

Wow, excellent...
it's like a cross between orchestrated and electronic music... great blend!!

kept me interested through the whole thing (with goosebumps :p )

wat Psybot said is true with the synths... but you made it work nonetheless. Try experimenting with your own sounds on Sytrus (if your working with FL Studio) you'll learn alot... at least i did :)

For being "Grey" the music is the exact opposite... GREAT JOB!

Xyirx responds:

Yup, I'm working with FLStudio, and I think I have to put more time on putting the oscillations to make more interesting sounds. ^^;

At that time, I was very, you know, 'blank' and came up with a unclear title. Hehheh, I don't know.

Anyway, thanks for a good review. I appreciate it.

O_o

nice!

you've got a sick song goin' there! Everhting fits together nicely, nothing sticks out where it shouldn't, and it kept me hooked.

8/10

8 because near the end the strings and chorus started to get old and repeatitive and thats where I began to lose interest, at the most important, the end.

All in all... Exellent!

c4v responds:

Thanks for the review!

well the name had me hooked :P

bad news: it sounds like something out of an old gameboy game :(

good news: There is so much more that can come out of this song... u need to give it more OMPH... right now it feels like "ok its going and going and going and wont stop." Yes you're right the drumz do flow well, but the interesting part, no so much. Mix things up a bit... make it feel like a Super Caffeine Overdose!!!... not something the speakers feel embarrased to ooze out.

all in all... NEEDS MORE ENERGY!!!! O_o

BallinFatty responds:

yes i agree with you

go check out the remake i did of this song. "The Ultimate Caffeine Overdose"

i should have more energy

anyways, glad you somewhat enjoyed and thanks again for the review and 6

Its Workin'

Great! Its working fine for me, I don't know what your talking about. Mabye your computer doesn't like you or something...I don't know.
Anyway, about the song...Great! tho' the drums seemed too soft and kinda plain. spice em' up a bit. Favorite part is when only the melody was playing...Gave me goosebumps. Keep up the good work. Sounds Good!!

CyrusOfNaias responds:

Thanks!

Don't worry, like all the others, including yourself, I have a long way to go, but I believe this is the farthest I've ever gone before. I cannot wait until I've achieved renown like the best guys here. Thanks again!

Hmmmmmm...

WOOOOOOO THAT WAS...SHORT! Alright kid here are some tips. you're using FL Studios right? Try messing around with some strings. basic strings(packs/strings). make an actual melody and then base something around it. I know, easier said than done, but give it some time and you'll have a song goin in no time. if you need any advice PM me and I'll try to get back to you.(I can't get online much)
